Pekin Hospital is fortunate to work with many volunteers through the Pekin Hospital League and the Pekin Hospital Auxiliary, which include hospital escorts and other volunteers. These men and women volunteer simply because they believe in Pekin Hospital and our mission and they want to serve the community.

How many volunteers does Pekin Hospital have?
The number of people who volunteer at Pekin Hospital exceeds 450! That's more than hospitals two and three times our size.
What do Pekin Hospital volunteers do?
Our volunteers assist staff in providing extra services to our patients. Services include:
- Delivering flowers, cards and newspapers to patients
- Assisting patients in the radiology department
- Delivering supplies from the pharmacy to patient floors
- Serving as hostess in the surgical waiting and lobby areas
- Assisting departments with typing, copying, filing, making tour packets and other projects
In addition, Pekin Hospital's Escort Service, traditionally staffed by men, provides a variety of services for patients, including transporting patients to and from various departments, delivering equipment and/or supplies to patient care floors and escorting patients to the lobby for discharge.
Our Volunteer Services Program is growing, and we also offer the opportunity for you to join us as a lobby greeter. Individuals interested in this rewarding volunteer position will provide the personal touch of greeting patients and visitors to our hospital.
How much time do volunteers usually donate monthly?
Volunteers can donate anywhere from just two hours per week to a full 40 hours per month. At Pekin Hospital, we recognize that people lead busy lives. We can be flexible to assist you in donating your time to serve as a volunteer.
Will I receive training?
All volunteers receive on-the-job training and jackets to wear while serving as volunteers.
