Jennifer's labor went into overtime.
So did her devoted nurse.
At 6:30 in the morning, Jennifer Norman went into labor. When her baby girl, Kinley, finally arrived at 7:30 that night, Jennifer's nurse was still there, hours past the end of her shift. "Even though my new nurse came on, my original nurse stayed till the baby was born. My husband sent gift cards to both of these wonderful nurses," Jennifer said. "They really helped make me more comfortable."
Heather's baby arrived during a record storm.
Fortunately, The Baby Place kept things calm.
Heather Friedrich's baby was born during the worst snowstorm of the year. Her doctor, who was stuck behind a snowplow, nearly missed the delivery. "Thankfully, the nurses stayed the night with me, and they were so positive and helpful," said Heather. "They brought my husband a cot and he was with me for two nights until the storm died down. Everyone treated us like family."
Jennifer didn't know what to expect.
But support at The Baby Place made all the difference.
When first-time mom Jennifer Bartley checked into UnityPoint Health - Pekin to deliver her baby, she didn’t know what to expect, but she never imagined the support she’d receive. Not long after checking in, she told her nurse that she’d never been in the hospital before. “From then on, they explained everything that was happening so I would feel comfortable,” Jennifer said. “The nurses really helped me stay focused. When I thought about medication, they didn’t tell me no but gently reminded me of my goal.”
