Dash at Dusk to be held July 21st


UnityPoint Health – Pekin will host the fifth annual Dash at Dusk 5K and Kids’ Fun Run on July 21, 2017. The event promotes community wellness and raises funds for the hospital’s annual mission trip to provide medical assistance to underserved countries.

UnityPoint Health – Pekin recently honored employees and volunteers at two events that celebrate outstanding service and dedication. The 58th Annual Employee Awards Banquet recognized 89 employees with 1,115 combined years of service. Dr. John Lovell was given special recognition upon his retirement after 39 years of treating patients and serving the community.

UnityPoint Health Wound Centers Offer Foot Health Tips During National Foot Health Awareness Month


April is National Foot Health Awareness Month and a time when the experts at the UnityPoint Health Wound Centers suggest people take a moment to stand up for their feet. According to the American Orthopedic Foot & Ankle Society, the average person takes 10,000 steps each day which adds up to more than three million steps per year.

Pekin League to Host Golf Classic for UnityPoint Health – Pekin


The Pekin Hospital League’s 26th Annual Golf Classic will be held May 1, 2017, at the Pekin Country Club. The entry fee is $125 per person and includes green fees, a cart, a box lunch, beverages and a buffet dinner. Lunch will be available at 11:30 a.m., followed by a 1 p.m. shotgun start.

UnityPoint Health is celebrating Certified Nurses Day on March 19th by honoring its Certified Nurses. UnityPoint Health has 721 certified nurses on staff at its Methodist, Proctor and Pekin campuses. Board certified nurses are recognized for their professionalism, leadership, and commitment to excellence in patient care.

UnityPoint Health – Pekin Accepting Scholarship Applications


(February 10, 2017) The Unity Point Health – Pekin Auxiliary is now accepting scholarship applications from local students enrolled in a health care professions program. Each year the Auxiliary’s scholarship committee reviews applications and awards funds based on course of study, scholarship achievements, course requirements, letters of recommendation and financial need. The committee awarded a total of $3,500 to seven students in 2016.

Nani Moazzam has joined ProHealth General Surgery and is now seeing patients at 600 South 13th Street, Suite I, in Pekin. Baby-Friendly USA, Inc. recently announced that UnityPoint Health – Pekin has received prestigious international recognition and has been re-designated as a Baby-Friendly birth facility. Baby-Friendly USA, Inc. is the U.S. authority for the implementation of the Baby-Friendly Hospital Initiative (BFHI), a global program sponsored by the World Health Organization (WHO) and the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF).

The Boards of Directors of Progressive Health Systems and UnityPoint Health – Peoria have finalized and approved an affiliation agreement, which became effective January 1st, 2017. The agreement brings the two systems together, allowing for enhanced access to primary care providers and specialists while improving care coordination and patient experience.
