Pekin Hospital is Now Smoke Free! 
They are everyday scenes. Groups of people smoking outside a building or lighting up in a parking lot, seconds after leaving a smoke-free environment. They are adults. They're kids. Some are patients. Others are healthcare workers who routinely treat people who smoke.
Well, we've made a change.
We've made all our facilities 100 percent smoke-free. This policy applies to everyone - patients, family, visitors, volunteers and staff.
Smoking is off-limits in all buildings, parking lots, sidewalks and all other grounds.
We believe our smoke-free initiative promotes wellness and disease prevention throughout the communities we serve.
We join a growing number of healthcare systems across the country - including Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn., and Cleveland Clinic Health System in Cleveland, Ohio - that are now smoke-free.
So if you need to light up, you'll have to go elsewhere. If necessary, your physician can order nicotine patches, lozenges or gum to help make you more comfortable while in our care. But we'd really like it if you decided to go smoke-free yourself. Your lungs, heart, family and friends will be glad you did.
A smoke-free environment. It's just one more way we are setting the standard for health and wellness in our communities.
